Bison at Circle S during the Snow!

All is warm in the Inn for the Holidays, while the outside is snowy and beautiful in a blanket of snow, looks like Dakota is having more fun getting ready for the Love Family Christmas then Jack is!

This is a beautiful summer with cool summer breezes the gardens, buffalo and kids are all enjoying. Dakota our Daughter and Sofia our Granddaughter love to swing together on any of the three swings around the yard. The gardens are maturing and have bloomed more this year then ever before. The first of August finds us with night time temps in the 60's. The chickens should be laying soon. They love fruit and vegetables of all kinds and what they don't enjoy we compost in one of three areas we are using. Pumpkins are growing in last years compost area and out in all directions almost 20 feet, threatening to take over a huge area!
Many of our photos are of the gardens, we have added a few things around the Inn so watch for more pictures soon with the courtyard, new conference room and our party barn with interior walls in an new stucco finish and mahogany ceiling.
Check out our blog on our most recent adventure, The Myers Hotel in Tonganoxie. We just love to build! This project just needs a few touches to be a really incredible intimate small hotel in the small town Jack grew up in.

Kansas Garden Dinners, we have enjoyed dinners with our guests this week with lots of great Kansas grown foods. It all started with sweet corn from Bismark Gardens. Erin was visiting from the tundra region of Canada after coming to Lawrence by train, and we wanted to show her a real Kansas meal. Jack and I with help from Dakota our 2 year old daughter served dinner on the porch of our Inn. We had sweet corn, green beans, fresh garden tomatoes, stuffed peppers and cucumbers with onions along with smoked chicken. When Jack rolled his sweet corn in the butter Erin said they don't eat it like this at home. We found out the area she is from only has a 60 day growing season so all the fresh foods were enjoyed even more by all! We even had fresh peaches for the shortcake for dessert with vanilla icecreme'. Dakota spent the evening running thru the yard with Lucy, our golden retriever, until dessert came out then she sat right down to eat with us. We didn't think we had any room left to eat, but we really enjoyed a little dessert and lots of visiting with new friends.
